Périmètre [Perimeter]
In this series, an elementary principle directs the initial stage of the painting’s composition: a clear and precise boundary predefined within the frame. A geometrical shape or reference to architectural signs outlines the perimeter. From there a choice is made between what the form should define as negative and positive space. The goal here is to act on both sides of the outline, in a two-stage process – inside or outside of the shape – in an effort to clear a path through the profusion of visual cues and processes of painting.
